Exactly 10 days after the midterm elections, the Lancaster County Election Commission has completed counting votes. Dave Shively, Lancaster County Election Commissioner, told KLIN News that they finished the job at about 12:30 PM.
“We just completed our final count of the provisional ballots, which are those ballots that were cast by voters who hadn’t updated their voter registration, moved within the county, and went to their new polling location to be able to vote,” said Shively. In a conversation with KLIN News the day after the election, Shively confirmed that there were about 1,900 provisional ballots to go through in addition to many others. The Commission’s next step is to certify the election, which will occur on Nov. 28.
Prior to the election, Shively had predicted a voter turnout of about 110,000, roughly 55 percent of eligible voters. In the end, that number was higher. There were almost 116,000 ballots cast and a voter turnout of over 57 percent.
