Husker fans will be greeted by bitterly cold temperatures and wind chills when they head to Memorial Stadium for Saturday’s 11 AM kickoff against Wisconsin. Channel 8 Chief Meteorologist Rusty Dawkins talked to KLIN News and highlighted that as the mercury could into the 20s at kickoff time, the wind will be rushing at about 20 miles per hour.

“When your wind is as high as your temperature, you’re usually in trouble,” said Dawkins. “The windchill will be in the single digits/early in the teens for most of the game. So just a raw, cold, blustery kind of day.

“If you can wear layers and hand warmers and stocking caps and gloves and mittens and everything else… that’s going to be needed on Saturday.”

The good news is that Sunday will be better. Temperatures at the end of the weekend will rebound and make it into the low 50s.
