Lincoln Police took four teens into custody early Tuesday morning after they were found in a stolen vehicle.  Sergeant Chris Vollmer says a 19 year old woman called police Monday night to say her KIA Sorento was taken from a Wesleyan parking lot near 54th and Madison.

The vehicle was left unlocked with the keys inside.  Vollmer says around 2:15 a.m. the officer who took the initial theft report was driving past the Kwik Shop near 48th and Madison and saw a KIA parked in the lot.

Vollmer says the officer was able to confirm the license plate matched the stolen Sorento.  “As the cruiser pulled behind the KIA, two individuals fled from the car and two remained inside. The remaining occupants, a 16 year old female and 14 year old male were taken into custody.

Additional responding officers found 18 year old Jayden Nyhoff and an additional 16 year old male.  During this investigation, information was uncovered regarding an additional stolen vehicle in the area of 50th & Madison.

The three juveniles were referred for theft by receiving stolen property.  Nyhoff was booked into jail for theft by unlawful taking.
