A Lincoln family escaped after fire broke out in their home around 6:00 Monday morning.  LFR Captain Nancy Crist says heavy smoke and flames were coming from the house in the 1600 block of SW Jordan when they rolled up.

“The fire started in the walls of the kitchen caused by faulty wiring,” Crist says.  She says the fire spread up into the attic space.  She says the homeowner was in the process of replacing his smoke detectors and a family dog began barking and alerted them to fire.

Two residents got out safely along with two dogs and a cat.  Damage is estimated at $150,000.
