Senator Sasse Confirmed As University Of Florida President

By Tom Stanton Nov 1, 2022 | 2:19 PM

Nebraska U-S Senator Ben Sasse has been approved by the University of Florida Board of Trustees to be the school’s next president. Sasse emerged as the lone candidate for the job despite student opposition and a faculty no-confidence vote.

The trustees voted 13-0 to confirm Sasse.   “We need a visionary, an innovator, a big thinker, transformative leader,” said Trustee Rahul Patel.  The vote will now go to the University Board of Governors who will have a final say on the matter. That vote will come on November 10th

Trustees still have to negotiate Sasse’s compensation, which is expected to be around $1.6 million.
