City officials gathered on the morning of Oct. 27 to announce new measures in battling excessive snowfalls this winter and beyond. Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird stood in front of a large white truck and revealed it was one of 12 new combo trucks replacing the city’s oldest snowplows.
Mayor Gaylor Baird said the new trucks nearly double the city’s ability to clear its arterial streets of snow. Additionally, they’ll have their summertime uses for hauling materials between LTU construction projects.
This improved method of clearing the streets of snow is part of a larger investment into the capital’s roads, which has been a top priority for the Gaylor Baird administration. Since 2019, the city has invested $167 million into Lincoln’s streets.
