Governor Ricketts Highlights Center’s Operational Excellence

By Michael Wheeler Oct 24, 2022 | 11:31 AM

Governor Pete Ricketts highlighted the achievements of Nebraska’s Center of Operational Excellence on the morning of Oct. 24. The center, which began operating in 2016, works to make business between residents and the government more efficient.

“We want Nebraskans spending less time waiting in line, filling out forms, and do their business with the state… faster,” said Ricketts. “If you get your permit faster, that means you can get started on your project faster, which means you can start employing Nebraskans faster.”

Ricketts pointed out two specific achievements in time and money. The improvement to process projects has resulted in 900,000 hours of work being saved in the last six years, which allows workers to spend more time on customer service. At the podium, the governor also proclaimed October as “Center of Operational Excellence” month in the state.

“By the end of 2022, [the saved hours] will come to a hard savings of 100 million dollars,” said Ricketts. “So that’s real taxpayer savings.”
