A Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputy used social media to arrest a man accused of stealing a boat engine from Pawnee Lake in the past week. Sheriff Terry Wagner says the 15 horsepower engine was stolen from a boat belonging to the UNL rowing team.

Wagner says it was stolen between October 14th and 19th.  A coach for the team reported the theft late Wednesday afternoon.  “During the investigation, a friend of the coach indicated that he had seen a motor similar to that on Facebook Marketplace.”  Wagner says the deputy eventually made contact with the seller and they agreed to meet in the area of 33rd and Cornhusker Highway.

“At that time 30 year old Jorge Jimenez was arrested for possession of stolen property.”  Wagner says he had the $3,500 engine in the back of his vehicle.
