Civic Nebraska is holding its final Civic Saturday of 2022 at 11 AM on Saturday, Oct. 22, at Antelope Park. The event gives residents the chance to reflect on what it means to be an active and empowered citizen, talk with other like-minded people, and features a wide array of poetry, readings, and live music.

Steve Smith, Director of Communications at Civic Nebraska, told KLIN News about some things visitors can expect to see on the weekend. “There’s going to be a civic poet and a civic musician, and a couple of community members will read some texts from our history that will be relevant. So, it’s not really an open mic thing, although there are chances to participate,” said Smith.

Those opportunities to participate come in the form of “civic circles,” where groups get together to discuss issues the particular event is wrestling with. This year’s theme is “Dare Mighty Things,” and it is the last Civic Saturday until the early part of 2023. It is free to the public, and light snacks and drinks will be provided.
