Investigators from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, with aid from the Metro Area Fugitive Task Force, arrested Dr. Scott E. Schmidt without incident at his Lincoln home at 9:30 AM on the morning of Sept. 29.
Schmidt, 54, was arrested for 1st and 2nd degree sexual assault for incidents involving two of his patients that occurred between January 1, 2022 and July 1, 2022. 1st Degree Sexual Assault (28-319) is a class II felony, and 2nd Degree Assault (28-318) is a class IIA felony. He worked at Pine Lake Behavioral Health and Medical.
Jared Ray, the center’s Director of Operations, delivered a statement:
“Once we became aware of the allegations against Dr. Schmidt we acted swiftly and decisively. Our primary concern at this time is the health and safety of our patients and providers and we are confident that the justice system will do what it needs to do in this situation. We look forward to continuing to provide medically necessary care for our community and we will remain future focused, hopefully putting this behind us and remaining committed to helping individuals and families seeking lasting change and better health. ”
The investigation is ongoing and the Sheriff’s Office still urges anyone with information or who was sexual victimized by Schmidt to contact the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at (402) 441-6500.
