Governor Pete Ricketts gathered with leaders of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human services to declare September 2022 as Child Welfare Workforce Development Month. The state is investing millions of dollars to create a workforce for the benefit of children and their families.
Beginning Oct. 1, the workforce will bring enhanced family services to Nebraska, including:
- Family-Centered Treatment: A months-long, home-based trauma treatment program used to unearth issues a household faces. This is done by improving positive parenting skills and delivering therapeutic services needed to address ongoing substance abuse and additional mental health needs.
- Healthy Families America: A program wherein case workers visit the homes of new and expecting families with children who are at risk of being mistreated.
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Therapy for kids and adolescents showing signs of trauma exposure.
- Familias Unidas: Improving skills in parenting and communication and preventing substance abuse and risky sexual behavior among Hispanic youth.
