A 19 year old California man ended up in the Seward County Detention Center after deputies found drugs in a vehicle during a traffic stop on eastbound I-80 around 12:30 Monday afternoon.
The sheriff’s department says they stopped the vehicle for two separate traffic violations. During the stop a deputy became suspicious of criminal activity based on the information provided by the driver.
A second deputy then responded with a drug detection dog. That resulted in a positive alert. A search was conducted and resulted in the seizure of 8.5 pounds of cocaine. The sheriff’s department says the estimated street value of the drugs is about $100,000.
19 year old Rodrigo Figueroa of Santa Barbara was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and no drug tax stamp.
