Lincoln Man Arrested After Seward County Pursuit

By Tom Stanton Sep 20, 2022 | 11:01 AM

A 25 year old Lincoln man is facing a long list of charges after fleeing from Seward County Sheriff’s deputies Monday afternoon.  The sheriff’s department says a vehicle was going westbound near 168th and Highway 6 when a deputy observed several traffic violations.

The deputy tried to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle took off and that led to a pursuit ensued. The driver later lost control and went off the roadway. The sheriff’s department says 25 year old Aaron Marquez got out of the vehicle and ran into a bean field and wooded area.

Members of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol and additional Seward County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted in finding
Marquez.  About an hour later Marquez was taken into custody without incident.

A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed a half pound of marijuana packaged for distribution. A records check also showed that Marquez was driving under a suspended license in addition to two Seward County warrants.

Marquez was arrested for operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, possession of marijuana over one ounce to one pound, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, driving under suspension and obstructing a police officer.

Marquez was booked into the Seward County Detention Center.
