A 24 year old Lincoln man is accused of starting a fire inside a vacant house near 38th and West Raymond Road on August 17. Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner says on Tuesday night a man who lives near that house spotted Nicholas Vanackeren standing on the road staring at the vacant house, which led to an altercation.
“The witness thought Vanackeren matched the general description of the suspect in that case along with his vehicle and was trying to take pictures of that for us when the disturbance occured,” Wagner says.
He says Vanackeren threatened the resident. Deputies interviewed Vanackeren and eventually arrested him for second degree arson. He was also booked for assault for the confrontation with the neighbor.
