The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office took part in a nationwide crackdown on drunk and impaired drivers during the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

Deputies conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Hwy 6 just west of 98th Street on Friday, August 26 from 9:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.  Deputies were also on duty Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights during the crackdown from 8:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.

The total official traffic citations issued during the crackdown included one driving under the influence, six driving during suspension, two seatbelt violations, fourteen for no valid registration, ten no proof of insurance, three for no valid operator’s license,  38 speeding and three for various traffic law violations.

One criminal arrest was made for carrying concealed weapon.  There was one felony possession of a controlled substance arrest and five for possession of marijuana less than an ounce.  There were also six arrests for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Overtime compensation paid to deputies working during the crackdown was funded through a mini-grant received from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
