A resident of an apartment complex in the 300 block of W Charleston called Lincoln Police around 10:20 Sunday morning after finding a bullet hole in the ceiling of their bedroom.

“Arriving officers observed the damage to the ceiling and related damage to a clothes dresser. The upstairs apartment reportedly hosted a party the previous evening,” says Sergeant Chris Vollmer.

A 21 year old man told police an unknown partygoer had fired a .223 caliber rifle into the floor of the bedroom.  The man told officers the rifle had been stored in a box under his bed.   While examining the room to locate the gunfire damage, a small plastic bag with suspected methamphetamine was found.

The 21 year old man was booked into jail for possession of a controlled substance. Police are still trying to determine who fired the rifle.
