Lincoln Police were called to East Park Plaza at 220 North 66th Street Sunday night after someone reported finding a gun.  “Officers contacted a 20-year-old who said she found a .22 caliber rifle in Deadman’s Run Creek, which is just north of the East Park Cinema movie theatre,” says Captain Todd Kocian.

He says the rifle had significant amount of rust and mud on it.  Police are working to identify the owner of the firearm and determine how it came to be at that location.

“We would like to remind everyone that should you ever find a discarded firearm, please do not manipulate or handle the firearm and instead contact police so the firearm can be safely removed from the area and secured,” Kocian says
