On Thursday, Grammy Award winning country group Lady A announced they canceled their Request Line Tour for 2022. They were scheduled to perform at the Nebraska State Fair on Saturday, September 3rd. The group issued a statement that singer Charles Kelley has embarked on a journey to sobriety.
Nebraska State Fair Marketing Director Fay Massey tells KLIN News, “You have to give them credit to decide that health is more important than playing a show. It is going to be better for them.”
Massey says the news has them scrambling to find an act. He says, “You are looking for someone who isn’t working first of all because you are not going to outbid anyone for the date. They are not working 30 days from now which is highly unusual. You are booking for someone within your price range. Anyone can book something if you have a lot of money. You will get someone to play.”
The State Fair is working with a promoter and they hope to have a big announcement within the next week.
Those who purchased tickets for the Lady A show can either hold on to them and use them at the yet to be announced show. The State Fair will also be offering refunds to those who prefer that route.
