Three members of Nebraska Task Force One are in Kentucky to assist with search and rescue efforts due to massive flooding.

Training Manager and Rescue Team Manager for Nebraska Task One Ashley Engler tells KLIN News two team members are with LFR and the third is a retired member of the department.

Engler says, “They were doing some secondary searches, wide area searches and continuing to get feedback from the field. They are part of the Incident Support Team to help coordinate FEMA assets for search and rescue.”

Nebraska Task Force One Chief Brad Thavernet was deployed on Thursday. Two other members arrived on Sunday. Engler says they could be there for up to 14 days. At this time it is unknown if more members of Nebraska Task Force One will be deployed.

It is again raining in Kentucky Monday. There is now the threat of falling trees and power lines due to mudslides. There have been 30 deaths confirmed and hundreds are unaccounted for. The death toll does not include some recently recovered bodies. Four inches of rain fell in the area on Sunday. Flash flooding is a possibility through Tuesday morning.
