On Thursday, Lancaster County Engineer Pam Dingman opened a new mile of pavement on Southwest 42nd Street between West Hallam Road and Pella Road.

This one mile newly paved section is adjacent to the Monolith facility. Lancaster County Engineer was awarded a $500,000 grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Economic Opportunity Program for the project. The remaining costs were split between Lancaster County Engineering and Monolith.

Dingman told KLIN News, “The Monolith facility is a large facility and in the process of doing a large expansion. The realty is with hundreds of workers coming to the facility every day, we needed to get this road paved. ”

The roadway was officially opened at 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
