With gaps in test scores between low-poverty and high-poverty elementary schools growing by 15% to 20% during the pandemic, WalletHub released its report on 2022’s States with the Best & Worst School Systems.
The personal financial website looked at all 50 states and the District of Columbia across 32 key measures on quality and safety.
The report shows Nebraska came in first for having an existence of digital learning plan. The Cornhusker state ranked 2nd for the percentage of licensed / certified Public K-12 teachers and 2nd for median SAT Score. Nebraska came in 9th for math score tests, 12th for having a low dropout rate, 16th for student-teacher ratio, 18th for reading test scores and 29th for bullying incident rates.
Nebraska came in 8th for safety and 9th for quality of education.
Other states in the top 10 include Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Hampshire, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. The bottom five were West Virginia, Arizona, Louisiana, Alaska, and New Mexico.
