From July 1st through the 21st, Lincoln Police have investigated 41 vehicle theft reports. During the same time period in 2021, 38 vehicles were reported stolen. That is a 7.89% increase compared to the year before.
In 26.8% of the cases, the vehicles were left unlocked and the keys inside.
Of the vehicles stolen in July of 2020, 39% have been recovered.
The Lincoln Police Department would like to remind drivers to never leave your keys or key fob inside your vehicle. Always lock and secure your vehicle when it is left unattended.
