Someone could walk away with a half a billion dollars in the latest Mega Millions drawing. The estimated jackpot amount for the Tuesday’s drawing is about $555 million, or $316.9 million with the cash option selected.
This jackpot is in the top five for biggest of all time. The Mega Millions jackpot starts at $20 million and continues to grow each drawing until it is won. There have been 26 consecutive Mega Millions drawings since April 19 without a jackpot winner.
The Nebraska Lottery began offering Mega Millions in March of 2010. The largest Mega Millions jackpot on record occurred in October 2018 when one ticket was sold in South Carolina for a $1.537 billion jackpot.
