Mike Flood submitted his formal resignation as state senator to Governor Pete Ricketts and Speaker Mike Hilgers on Monday, July 11th.
On June 28th, voters in Nebraska’s First Congressional District elected Senator Flood to represent them for the remainder of Congressman Jeff Fortenberry’s term in the U.S. House of Representatives. He will serve as the First District’s Congressman for the remainder of 2022.
“I am humbled to have gained the confidence of the voters of the First Congressional District,” says Flood. “Having the trust of your friends, neighbors and community leaders is a tremendous honor. The first thing to do will be letting people know my office and I are a resource for them.”
Flood cited his official swearing in as a U.S. House Representative as the reason for his resignation. The ceremony will take place in the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, July 12th.
