Lincoln Police were called to an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Hilltop Road around 1:15 Thursday afternoon on a report of a found firearm.
“A resident of the apartment complex reported finding a handgun laying on the ground near the complex, turned it into the office and contacted police,” says Captain Todd Kocian.
He says the 9 mm handgun was loaded and they are trying to determine who the owner is and how it got there. “We would like to stress the importance of immediately contacting police should you ever find an unsecured firearm,” Kocian says.
“For your safety and the safety of others, please do not attempt to handle or manipulate the firearm but instead contact police so the firearm can be safely collected and removed from the area.”
