Today should be the last day of the current heat wave, with afternoon heat indices reaching the triple digits again.

A front moving into the region should result in scattered thunderstorm activity in central and northeast Nebraska this evening. Storms are most likely between 5 PM and 10 PM in northeast Nebraska. A couple storms may be severe with damaging winds or large hail.

The passage of a frontal boundary will bring cooler temperatures to the region Tuesday. By Tuesday evening the front should be near the Nebraska Kansas border, and it may serve as the focal point for thunderstorm development. A couple thunderstorms may be severe with large hail or damaging winds between 7 PM and midnight.

Lows Tuesday night will be in the upper 60s and highs on Wednesday should be in the mid 80s
