Public Conversation About Climate Change Impacts At Lied Center

By Tom Stanton Jun 9, 2022 | 5:44 PM

Nebraskans will have a chance to join in a conversation about the impacts of climate change during a panel discussion at the Lied Center in Lincoln on Wednesday, June 15.  Chris Sommerich is with Humanities Nebraska and says “Weathering Uncertainty: Conversations About Climate in Nebraska”  is the title of the first-of-it’s kind panel discussion.

“I think it  is time.  People want to talk about it I think they are curious to know what’s happening,” Sommerich says. “If you are curious about what climate change means for Nebraska, this program is for you. Everyone who attends will leave with a broader understanding and appreciation for the diverse ways our state is dealing with climate change, and how they fit in with that.”

Nebraska state climatologist Martha Shulski will be the moderator for the discussion.  “This is not about politics, or about who’s right or wrong,” Shulski says. “We want to hear from all Nebraskans about how climate change impacts our public health, our agriculture, our water resources and what Nebraskans think are solutions to some of these issues. It’s a conversation about bringing as many Nebraskans as possible to the table to hear from trusted sources, who also want to hear from all of you.”

The discussion is free to the public.  It will also be live streamed. For more information on the program and how to attend in person or online go to  humanitiesnebraska.org/weather
