2022 property valuations are out and Lancaster County Clerk Dan Nolte says protests can be filed through June 30. Protests filed or postmarked after June 30th cannot be accepted as timely filed.
Protests can be filed electronically at lancaster.ne.gov. Protest forms are also available on the website or by contacting the County Clerk’s Office here or 402-441-8724. There is no fee to file a property valuation protest.
Nolte says a new requirement this year is the use of a standardized protest form. A separate form must be
filed for each property being protested.
Information that is required is a property identification number, requested valuation amount, reasons for the requested change in
valuation amount and the filer’s signature. Any information that is omitted could cause the protest to be dismissed.
Supporting documentation can also be submitted with valuation protests. Residents may choose to discuss their protests with a referee. Hearings will be held beginning in mid-June through mid-July. Nolte stressed the importance of filing early in order to have
the best hearing date and time availability. “Those who wait until the end of June to file have fewer hearing date/time options available since the protest process has a short turnaround time,” Nolte says.
Following the review of all information submitted, valuation recommendations will be presented to the Board of Equalization for final action on or about August 9.
