Lincoln Police say a woman came to them on April 6th to report that $50,000 was missing from her 85 year old father’s bank account. LPD says further investigation found that 61 year old Paul Sheldon, the victim’s step son-in-law, had been impersonating him to the bank over the phone.
Sergeant Chris Vollmer says Sheldon directed deposits into separate bank accounts on 18 sperate occasions. The total loss reported is $50,300. Sheldon was contacted at his home and later booked into jail for theft by deception and senior adult abuse.
Vollmer says the victim has since died.
