By Tom Stanton May 23, 2022 | 11:45 AM

More details have been released in Lincoln’s first homicide of the year. It happened last Thursday morning outside a house near 28th and F Street. LPD Police Chief Teresa Ewins says they were called to the home on a report of two men fighting.

When officers arrived they found 57 year old Henry Lee Jones unresponsive. He later died at a local hospital. Ewins says 32 year old Derrick Pearson, 31 year old Briana Jelinik and 25 year old Micah Berggren went to Jones’ home to confront him and retrieve some of Jelinek’s property.

She says an altercation ensued and Berggren struck a 51 year old woman, who was with Jones , in the head with a blunt object. Ewins says Jones and Pearson then got into a fight and Pearson struck Jones in the head with a large wooden stick. “The altercation continued into the street. During the fight, both Pearson and Jelinek struck Jones in the head with large sticks.”

All three were later arrested during a traffic stop. Pearson and Jelinek were arrested for Manslaughter and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony. Berggren was arrested for Second Degree Assault and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony.
