The Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum will host its annual “Helicopter Day,” Saturday, May 21 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Guests will get up close to see helicopters arrive, land, and then visit with the pilots to learn more about the machines.
“The variety of helicopters that take part is what makes this event so special,” says Museum Chief Operating Officer, John Lefler, Jr. “To get up close and see the modifications made to fit a medical, military or law enforcement application really highlights the engineering achievement these machines represent.”
Helicopters scheduled to appear, include: StarCare, LifeNet 1-1, Nebraska State Patrol, Omaha Police Department and the Nebraska Army National Guard. Helicopter rides will be available for $80/person. Rides are approximately 15 minutes, including load-in and load-out.
“For those wishing to go for a helicopter ride, we encourage you to arrive early,” says Lefler. “Without a doubt, it is the most popular activity on Helicopter Day.”
Viewing the helicopters is free to the public. Regular admission applies to visit inside the Museum. The Museum is open 9:00am – 5:00pm daily. For more information on both events and other Museum activities, click here
