Officers with the Lincoln Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force were following up on an investigation Monday evening near North 64th and Francis when they saw three people leave a home and get into a vehicle.
Task Force members followed that vehicle to a parking lot at 56th and Holdrege. The vehicle stopped and officers attempted to make contact with those inside. Daniel Drews, age 40, got out and ran and threw a backpack he had been carrying. Drews was taken into custody a few minutes later and officers located the backpack. Inside, was was a .45 caliber handgun. Drews was also found to be in possession of 33 grams of methamphetamine, 240 grams of marijuana, and a fixed blade knife.
Drews was booked for possession with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm during a felony drug violation, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, and possession of money while violating a drug law.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 29 year old Doctrya West and the other passenger was 42 year old Justin Chilcott. Both were booked for possession of a controlled substance.
