All of a sudden, Nebraska baseball has an offense.
The Huskers beat Indiana 19-7 on Sunday, downed Kansas State 8-6 Tuesday, and handed Omaha a 14-3 loss Wednesday to improve to 17-23 on the season.
Wednesday’s victory ended after seven innings as a run-rule was in effect.
The Mavericks struck first with a run in the top of the first inning, but the Huskers struck back with three in the bottom of the inning, including a two-run homer from Max Anderson.
After Omaha added another run in the second, Nebraska all but put the game away with a six run third. After two more runs in the fourth inning and three in the sixth, the Huskers were up 11 runs and didn’t need to bat in the seventh frame.
Dawson McCarville earned the win with his 6.0 innings pitched, giving up three earned runs while striking out three and walking one. McCarville gave up six hits on the night.
Freshman Corbin Hawkins got an inning of work to close out the game. The Millard West product struck out two and walked one.
Nebraska tallied 10 hits, led by three from Anderson. Brice Matthews also added a multi-hit game, hitting a home run in the fourth inning.
The Huskers get back into Big Ten Conference play this weekend, hosting Iowa for a three game series.
