Woman Jailed After Night Of Vandalism

By Karla James Apr 27, 2022 | 10:31 AM

An employee at Yankee Hill Brick and Tile at 3705 S Coddington Avenue called the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office  to report there was a jeep parked and a woman was inside the building. This was late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

Deputies arrived and the Jeep was running with the radio up all the way. A small child was walking around the vehicle and Emily Anderson was in the doorway of the business. There was trash and debris around the vehicle and the trunk was open. Both Anderson and one child were covered with dirt and had yellow spray paint on their hands, faces and bodies.

Anderson told deputies that she and the children, two five year old boys, spend late Tuesday afternoon and most of the evening at Pioneer Park. She and the children left around 11 p.m.  and drove to a fire station, the Lincoln New Creation Community Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and the Lincoln Equestrian Center. She eventually ended up at 44th and South Coddington and took a box of items from a vehicle on the property. She then left a hoodie, scrunchie, coolant, windshield wiper fluid, chapstick, and a pen behind. Both children were alone in the vehicle while Anderson was at that property.

Anderson then drove to Yankee Hill Brick & Tile and walked inside through an unlocked door with one of the children. She then tossed trash cans, knocked over shelving, scaffolding, tossed tool boxes, and ripped open bags of materials. She found yellow spray paint, went outside and and sprayed “Anderson” and “MINE’ on the building.

Anderson then drove to the south side of the building and tried to get in through a garage door that was locked. She then drove then drove to the other side of the south building and parked. She and her child went inside and tossed chairs, rocks, trash, and toolboxes. Anderson opened very unlocked breaker panel and flipped switches. There was a 25-foot catwalk in that area and her child was walking around in that area.

Anderson says she opened an unlocked door to enter the property and admitted she took items from the business and put them in her vehicle. She also admitted to spray painting the building and vehicle. Anderson was told to leave the property but refused.

The estimated amount of damages totals $5,000.

Anderson was booked for burglary and cited for three counts of criminal mischief and two counts of child abuse. Anderson was also cited for theft related to a previous case.
