…HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING…
The National Weather Service has issued a HIGH WIND WARNING UNTIL 7PM THIS SATURDAY EVENING. Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 65 mph.
The area covered by the warning includes portions of east-central, northeast, southeast Nebraska and southwest and west-central Iowa, including the Lincoln and Omaha metro areas.
Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
Strong will produce areas of blowing dust that will lead to rapidly changing visibility. Use caution when driving in the vicinity of recently tilled fields.
People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.
