The Capital Humane Society has launched a new community resource program in Lincoln & Lancaster County. It’s called the Pawsitive Impact Project and it provides income-qualified pet owners access to affordable preventative veterinary care for their cats and dogs.
The new program will be located at 16th and South Street in the shopping center that houses Meadowlark Coffee and Open Harvest. Interim Executive Director Matt Madcharo says pet owners qualify for the program based on their income. “Any pet owner on an assistance program such as SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare, WIC, housing assistance, childcare assistance would qualify for this program.”
The program offers these pet owners access to preventative veterinary care for their pets such as vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick preventative, and microchipping. In addition, pet food and pet supplies such as collars, leashes, pet beds, carriers/crates, litter, and more will be available in the pantry at this program location.
This program will operate on specific dates each month. The first program date will be Wednesday, May 4th from 1:00-4:00pm. Other upcoming dates are Wednesday, May 25th from 1:00-4:00pm and Wednesday, June 8th from 1:00-4:00pm. Madcharo says additional program dates will be announced soon.
