Nebraska Softball Getting Much Deserved National Recognition

By Kaleb Henry Apr 19, 2022 | 11:31 AM

It didn’t happen all season for Nebraska women’s basketball, but with just a few weeks to go in the regular-season Nebraska softball has entered the top-25 rankings.

The Huskers are No. 21 in the D1Softball Top-25 and No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Nebraska was last ranked in a top-25 poll in 2016. That was the last time NU made regionals.

Nebraska is 33-9 for the season and on an 18-game winning streak. The Huskers are on top of the Big Ten Conference standings with a 13-0 league record.

Radio voice of Nebraska softball Nate Rohr told KLIN Husker Hour that the team is projecting to be a No. 2 seed in regionals.

“I just don’t think there’s enough time left in the season for this team to play its way into the top 16 national seeds (which host regionals),” Rohr said. “I think this team will go somewhere for a regional and I think they’re gonna scare whoever is at the top of their bracket.”

Nebraska has back-to-back road weekends at Wisconsin then at Ohio State before closing the season at home against Indiana. The Big Ten Tournament is May 11-14 at Michigan State.
