KLIN News received a news tip/inquiry early Tuesday morning indicating that StarTran riders and operators were still being required to wear masks on StarTran buses and other transportation vehicles. KLIN News sent e-mail inquiries to Lincoln Transportation and Utilities and the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department seeking clarification. KLIN received the following news release at 8:44 am.:
Masks No Longer Required on StarTran Buses
Effective immediately, masks are no longer required on StarTran buses. The decision follows an April 18 court ruling ending the national mask mandate on public transportation. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) continues to recommend that people wear masks in indoor public transportation settings at this time. StarTran will continue to review and update its policies as necessary.

The mask required signs have been taken down at Lincoln Airport and passengers now have the option to wear a mask or go without.
