The Lancaster County Sheriff’s office says catalytic converter thefts continue to rise. Sheriff Terry Wagner says the latest happened Friday at the MoPac Trail Head at 190th and E “O” Street.
“A vehicle was parked there while the owner was jogging. This particular vehicle had four catalytic converters on it, it was a Lexus,” Wagner says. Two oxygen censors were also stolen. “The loss is about $4,o00 to this vehicle, the most expensive catalytic converter loss I have seen.”
On Friday Lincoln Police reported there had been 513 catalytic converter thefts in the City so far in 2022. There were 978 last year and 274 in 2020.
