The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office was called Tuesday to investigate the sexual assault of an 18 year old developmentally disabled girl.

Sheriff Terry Wagner says deputies were called to a LPS high school  after the student reported she had been sexually assaulted by her father for several years. Wagner says, “She was interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center and as that investigation continued, we drafted a search warrant to be served in the Southwest 47th and West A Street area.”

Members of the Tactical Response Unit assisted in serving the warrant around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday. Two firearms were located inside the home. The 53 year old male suspect is a convicted felon. He was seen driving by the home while deputies were still there around midnight. A traffic stop was conducted and the man was taken into custody.

The suspect was booked for 1st degree sexual assault, abuse of a vulnerable adult, strangulation, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Sheriff Wagner says the man had been arrested in 2005 in Texas for indecency with a child – sexual contact. That charge was dismissed in 2007.

Names will not be released.
