April 10th through the 16th is National Telecommunicators Week.
The second week in April is set aside to honor the public safety dispatchers who help keep our community safe in the time of crisis. These individuals are the first voice you hear when you call 911 and they play a critical role in dispatching police, sheriff, and fire to emergencies.
Dispatchers work to calm people down, answer questions, ask questions and provide lifesaving instructions.
Lincoln Police say they are the voice to a face few ever see however their commitment to the community does not go unnoticed.
