Since April 5th, Lincoln Police received seven reports from apartment complexes and trailer courts that rent checks had been take from drop boxes.

Locations include:

3600 block of N 1st on 4-5-22
900 block of Roanoke Ct on 4-7-22
5600 block of S 31st on 4-6-22
900 block of Roanoke Ct on 4-7-22
700 block of N 70th on 4-5-22
5300 block of R St on 4-6-22
3100 block of S 72nd 4-5-22

The drop boxes were not damaged and police say it appears the checks were “fished” out of the box with a tool.

Lincoln Police are also investigating a string of mailbox thefts reported between April 3rd and the 7th. One was the 3000 block of Kucera Drive on April 7th. The suspect is identified as a man between the age of 30 and 50  with facial hair. He was driving a mid-2000’s model 4-door sedan with 39 county plates. This person is a suspect it that theft only and there is no information associating him with the other thefts.

Mail was also taken from homes at:

200 block of Prestwick Drive on 4-4-22
5200 block of Cooper Ave on 4-5-22
There were four thefts reported from a cluster mailbox in the 1000 block of G Street on 4-3-22

So far there have been no arrests and the investigations continue.
