Democratic Nebraska State Senator Carol Blood has selected a former state senator and rancher from western Nebraska to be her running mate in the race for governor.
Al Davis of Lincoln is a founding member of the Independent Cattlemen of Nebraska and also served six years on the Cattlemen’s Beef Board. He is currently a board member for the Nebraska Farmer’s Union. Davis was a registered Republican when he served in the legislature, but has since switched to the Democratic party.
“From the moment I announced my intent to be the next governor of the great state of Nebraska, I’ve been mulling over what attributes I would need in my running mate. The criteria included finding somebody who was servant-hearted, hard working, has strong knowledge of the current issues facing Nebraskans, a team player, past political experience, unquestionable personal values, good communication skills, and the they must have the same fire in his or her belly as I have giving them a strong desire to win regardless of the obstacles we may face,” Blood says.
“It’s time for “New Blood” and effective change and we are the team that are going to make this happen. There are exciting things on the horizon when we bring the collaborative voices of all to the table. I can’t wait.”
