Two Arrested On Narcotics Charges After Nearly Colliding With An LPD Cruiser

A vehicle ran a red light at 2:35 Friday morning at 27th and Cornhusker and nearly collided with an LPD cruiser.

The officer stopped the vehicle in the Super Saver parking lot and spoke with the driver, 45 year old Maggie Welling and her passenger, 35 year old Robert Vantine. As the officer was talking with Welling and Vantine, a glass bulbous pipe that is commonly used for smoking narcotics was seen on the floorboard.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers located 242.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 171 various prescription pills, 5.3 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, two glass pipes, and $400 in Welling’s possession.

Welling was booked for possession with intent to deliver, 5 counts of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of money while violating a drug law. She was also cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia and for careless driving.

Vantine was booked for possession with intent to deliver and five counts of possession of a controlled substance. He too was cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia.
