Carelessly Tossed Cigarette Blamed For Lincoln Apartment Fire

By Tom Stanton Mar 21, 2022 | 1:39 PM

One person had to be rescued from a burning apartment building near 20th and F Street at 11:30 Sunday  LFR’s Nancy Crist says a carelessly disposed cigarette under the porch sparked the fire.

“The fire actually originated in the basement and grew all the way to the attic.”  She says the strong winds fanned the flames, making the firefight more difficult.

One person rescued from the second floor was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.   Damage is estimated at $150,000 to the apartment house and $30,000 in contents.   Two of the five apartment units were being rented.  The resident that lives in each unit will have to find somewhere else to live.
