The cause – protecting Christian minorities in the Middle East from persecution was the motivation for a campaign donation to Congressman Jeff Fortenberry in 2016.
Paul Hammel with the Nebraska Examiner outlined the 3rd day of the trial Friday and reports Fortenberry and all of the others involved in the straw-man donation championed the cause of a lobbying group, In Defense of Christians, which was launched in 2014 with a Gilbert Chagoury donation of $1.3 million.
Chagoury is the Nigerian-Lebanese billionaire living in Paris that provided the funds.
