Playing outside of Texas for the first time this season, Nebraska baseball came up just short at Kansas State Wednesday.
Nebraska (4-8) got the first run on the board in the third inning on a Luke Jessen double that drove in Luke Sartori. But the Wildcats (4-7) struck back with five runs in the fourth and added another in the fifth.
The Huskers put together two runs in the seventh inning and one in the ninth, but it wasn’t enough as NU fell 6-4 in Manhattan.
Emmett Olson lasted just 3.0 innings in the start, giving up seven hits and four runs, two of them earned.
Core Jackson led Nebraska with a 2-for-2 day, tallying a double and a triple while knocking in one run.
With Nebraska’s home opening series against Long Beach State called off, the Huskers head to Omaha Sunday before hosting the Mavs Monday.
