25,000 Suspected Fentanyl Tablets Found During NSP Traffic Stop

Nebraska State Patrol Troopers made a stop around 3:40 Monday afternoon on eastbound I-80 near Lexington at mile marker 231. The trooper detected the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle and called for a search.

Inside the vehicle, troopers found a number of bags believed to be approximately 25,000 fentanyl pills. They also found approximately 2 pounds of suspected cocaine and six grams of marijuana.

The driver, 24 year old Alejandro Lopez Leon and a passenger, 28 year old Orlando Castro Gutierrez, both of Los Angeles, California were arrested for possession of an exceptionally hazardous drug, possession with intent to deliver an exceptionally hazardous drug, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana – less than an ounce, and no drug tax stamp.

Both were lodged in Dawson County Jail.
