Two people were hurt when their car collided with a semi around 8:40 Monday morning at 40th Street and Highway 2. Lincoln Police say a 56-year-old woman was driving a Kia Sorento east on Highway 2 and the semi was westbound on Highway 2 approaching 40th Street.
LPD says both eastbound and westbound traffic had a green light and the woman was waiting to turn left on a flashing yellow arrow. The unidentified woman made her left turn onto 40th Street and was struck by the semi. Sergeant Chris Vigil says the woman and her 16 year old son were transported to the hospital and remain in critical condition.
Neither alcohol nor drugs nor speed are believed to have played a role in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
