Arrest Made In Mail Thefts

By Karla James Mar 7, 2022 | 11:48 AM

An arrest has been made in recent mail thefts in Lincoln. Around 3:15 p.m. Saturday, a man living in the 800 block of W Harvest Drive was notified by an USPS mail carrier that his mailbox was open. The man then noticed that there was mail missing from the mailbox.

The mail carrier also noticed a blue sedan with tinted windows driving in the area around the same time she saw the open mailbox.

At 3:30 p.m. Saturday, a woman living in the 600 block of W Harvest Drive also found that mail had been stolen from her mailbox. She had sensitive credit card information in that stolen mail and soon was informed that someone had been using her credit card information to attempt a money transfer. One of the names involved in that transfer attempt was Undreia Garza.  The theft was caught before the victim lost any funds.

Shortly before 4 p.m., officers located 31 year old Undreia Garza in the 2500 block of N 9th Street inside a blue Mazda Protégé that matched the description given by the mail carrier. Officers also spotted some of the stolen mail from the male victim inside the vehicle. That prompted a search.

Inside the vehicle, LPD officers found 16.1 grams of methamphetamine, several forged checks, blank checks, and a printer and laptop that had been used to create forged checks.

Garza was booked for possessing a controlled substance and criminal possession of more than 4 financial transaction devices, both felonies.
